Description
The Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking funds-in partners to perform cooperative research for projects relating to its Energy Programs (nuclear, biofuel, wind, solar, and carbon sequestration). SRNL puts science to work to create and deploy practical, high-value, cost-effective technology solutions. As the applied research and development laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS), SRNL serves the DOE, and the nation, supporting partners and other federal agencies with their R&D needs. SRNL has an expert staff of approximately 670 that includes chemists, physicists, biologists, microbiologists, and engineers. SRNL's core competencies include the following areas: 1. Hydrogen and Tritium Science and Technology 2. Chemical and Radiochemical Processing 3. Environmental Science and Biotechnology 4. Engineered Specialty Systems 5. Materials Science 6. Analytical Chemistry 7. Computational Science and Modeling 8. Sensor Development A Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) is the most frequently used mechanism for formalizing interactions and partnerships between private industry and SRNL and is the only mechanism for receiving funds from non-Federal sources for collaborative work. CRADAs, statutory authority found in 15 U.S.C. 3710a, are agreements between a Federal laboratory and a non-Federal party to perform collaborative research and development in any area which is consistent with the Federal laboratory's mission. Under a CRADA, the Federal laboratory may provide personnel, services, facilities, and equipment, but not funds, to the joint R&D effort. CRADAs afford industry partners the opportunity to protect and commercialize intellectual property resulting from CRADA work while reserving for the Government certain usage rights. SRNL is located at SRS, a 310 square mile DOE facility located near Aiken, South Carolina and Augusta, GA. If your company is interested in learning more about SRNL, please contact John Olschon, SRNL Technology Transfer, at john.olschon@srnl.doe.gov or (803) 725-8125.
