- Strategic Incubation Initiative - Development of a Chemotherapy Ordering System Sources Sought Letter THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT. THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. THE PURPOSE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. RESPONSES TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE USED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE APPROPRIATE ACQUISITION DECISIONS. A SUBSEQUENT SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT MAY FOLLOW. RESPONSES TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADEQUATE RESPONSE TO ANY FUTURE ANNOUNCEMENT. The United States Government, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Office of Health Information (OHI), seeks sources for the development of a Chemotherapy Ordering System in collaboration with the VHA's Innovations program. This acquisition focuses on healthcare information, medical informatics, and healthcare IT (HIT) expertise specific to the topic area, and applied to the problem to assist the VHA to initiate collaborative IT solution development. The Chemotherapy Ordering System shall implement an innovative solution derived as an outcome of the Strategic Innovation Challenge Design Workshops for Chemotherapy Ordering. The VHA sponsored Strategic Innovation Challenge Design Workshop on the Chemotherapy Ordering System (not part of this effort) includes VHA managers, field innovators, expert support, VHA doctors, nurses and pharmacists with chemotherapy ordering and oncology expertise and background. The purpose of this workshop is to focus fact-based healthcare information, medical informatics, and healthcare IT expertise during facilitated workshop sessions, using accelerated, concentrated, visioning and visualization, and critical thought function design methods resulting in tangible outputs, which can then be used by VHA to initiate collaborative IT development. The results of these workshops shall then be utilized under this effort to develop the Chemotherapy Ordering System that is a field based, operationally useful prototype solution. The prototype solution shall be an ordering process available in the VHA clinical practice setting to accommodate the unique needs of Chemotherapy ordering. The Chemotherapy Ordering System shall enhance and standardize CPRS/VistA capabilities to meet direct entry of chemotherapy orders needs of Oncology practice. It shall integrate existing Oncology Electronic Health Records (EHR) and the electronic clinical practice environment referred to in the VA as CPRS or the Vista database. It is requested that any interested party submit the information required below via email to the POC listed at this bottom of this announcement. This request for information, or "sources sought," shall not be construed as an RFP. Information is to be provided on a voluntary basis. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges including postage and shipping will arise as a result of the submission of contractors' information.
