- Description
- The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate solely with BMC Software Distribution, Inc., 2101 City West Blvd, Houston, TX 77042 for continued software maintenance and license upgrades for Government-owned BMC software products under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements." SSA intends to establish a firm, fixed-price delivery order off of BMC's GSA contract GS-35F-5237H for continued maintenance and license upgrades on BMC proprietary software operating in a production environment on Government machines. The BMC software includes Control-M/Analyzer, Control-M for z/OS, Control-M/Restart, BMC Performance Assurance, Mainview SRM Allocation, Mainview SRM Automation, Mainview SRM Reporting, and Mainview SRM SG Auto. SSA uses BMC software to provide an interface between its operating systems and major programmatic applications software to support systems such as Representative Payee, Quality Assurance, and Title II and Title XVI Benefit payments. The software is used for automated production control, storage and resource management and performance measurement. The BMC software is located at the National Computer Center (NCC) in Woodlawn, MD, the Durham Support Center (DSC) in Durham, NC, and at SSA's program service centers nationwide. Upon completion of the National Support Center (NSC), SSA may license BMC software for usage at this facility. The location for this facility has not been determined. BMC is the only known source to the Government that is capable of providing software licensing upgrades and maintenance support for these proprietary software products. The period of performance shall be for 60 months beginning December 1, 2009. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill this requirement. A solicitation is NOT available. Therefore, written and/or verbal requests for copies of a solicitation related to this announcement will not be honored. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Respondents will NOT be notified of the results of the information received. Responses to this notice must be submitted by October 29, 12:00 PM ET. Responses may be sent via E-MAIL ONLY to the point of contact listed below. NO PHONE CALLS OR FAXES WILL BE ACCEPTED. No submissions may exceed 5MB.
