Description
We currently have a requirement and our customer is still developing the PWS. We know part of what is needed is for the existing tapes (~1600) to be transferred to an electronic vault, 3 years of technical support and warranty. This is the third phase of this project. The first phase consisted of Dell computers, EMC storage devices, and Symantec Enterprise Vault software to restore and index all emails and associated attachments that have been generated through 2008. The second phase is with Carahsoft/Symantec to install a Production Enterprise Vault that eliminates the need to save magnetic tapes indefinitely. The Production Enterprise Vault equipment and implementation is also a Symantec solution which shall be integrated to the three existing JTF-GTMO network environments -- Non-Secure Internet Protocol Network (NIPRNET), Secure Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNET), and Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communication System (JWICS). This portion is still ongoing. The final phase which we are inquiring about shall fully integrate the EDS (Historical and Production vault). This phase shall migrate into the EDS the data created between the end of the historical vault implementation and the implementation of the production vault. Data is defined as all files regardless of format. The number of tapes to be processed is approximately 1600 backup tapes; this number is an estimate. This phase shall ensure that magnetic back-up tapes can be added directly to the production vault, if there is ever a need to go back to the magnetic tapes to retrieve data that was not added to the historical vault during previous phases. As I mentioned previously the PWS for this final phase is still being developed.
