- Description
- This is modification 5 to the synopsis entitled HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE SUPPORTINGTHE MAKER PROJECT under NNJ09298123Q which was posted on July 20, 2009. The purpose ofthis modification is to post the following updated Statement of Work (SOW) reflective ofthe questions and answers below:Question #1: The SOW refers to stepper motors but the attached EBF3 Manipulator documentshows the motors as DC Brushless; not steppers. Can you clarify the motors that are inthe manipulator?Answer #1: The motors are brushless DC Servo. The users manual is clear on this, the SOWwas incorrect. The SOW has been globally updated. Question #2: On Solicitation Number: NNJ09298123Q I noted the section 3.3.3 of the SOWshows that two of the VFDs(refer to 3.3.3.4, 3.3.3.5) shall output single phase. I haveseen VFDs offered with single and three phase inputs but not single phase outputs. Single phase motors are generally not capable of variable frequency use. Has Nasadetermined that these motors can be run off of single phase? Are these some type ofSynchronous reluctance motor? Is it possible to get info on the motors for purposes ofsupplying power to them?Answer #2: Single phase 110V output is a copy and paste error. The outputs shall all beof 3 phase, 220VAC. The SOW has been updated to correct this error. Question #3: Are you doing a Lawson Software Implementation?Answer #3: There is no requirement for broad platform implementation. The software is tosupport a limited use, lab environment application and is not a true enterprise scaleendeavor. Question #4: Section 3.3.2 of the SOW (as well as a previous question/answer form)indicates the manipulator motors are steppers. However, the manual for the manipulatorshows the motors as being brushless DC, which would clearly require a different style ofdrive.Which is correct?Answer #4: Reference answer to previous question, the SOW has been updated to explainthis. No additional update requiredQuestion #5: Section 3.3.8 of the SOW requires a manual override for VFD control. Weunderstand this to be three separate knobs, one for each VFD. Is this correct, or dothey all vary speed in unison?Answer #5: Each speed control is independent of the other. The SOW has been updated toreflect this in section 3.3.8.Question #6: Section 3.4 of the SOW indicates that the VFDs are not to be mounted in astandard rack enclosure. Does NASA have any preference or direction on how to mount orenclose the VFDs?Answer #6: The vendor may choose to utilize rack mounted VFDs or conventional, fullyenclosed COTs units designed to be surface mounted or wall hung. The note leading intoSection 3.4 of the SOW has been updated to clarify this. The SOW can be at:http://procurement.jsc.nasa.gov/NNJ09298123Q/SOW_Updated_10-20-09.docx The due date for questions and answers is extended to October 27, 2009.Anticipated release date of the RFQ - NNJ10316425Q, is on or about October 29, 2009. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. Thesedocuments will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWWbrowser application.
