Description
The SEC intends to award a brand name requirement for an on-site resident effort in support of existing EMC electronic data storage infrastructure. This requires the SEC to contract for EMC Federal Residency Program Management or comparable support from an EMC Partner. This is a follow on contract action. This requirement is for the purchase of continued support to the Enterprise Storage environment, including Document Imaging, Server Consolidation, and Momentum projects. The SEC currently has nearly 600 TB of EMC storage comprising a number of EMC storage systems in production and is in the process of deploying additional server systems that use EMC storage as back-end storage. On-site EMC subject matter experts assist with the design and implementation and are critical to project and production support. Because this support requires extensive training and experience in supporting the EMC equipment, it is not possible for firms who are not an EMC Partner to provide compatible services capable of meeting the SEC’s requirements. Several vendors can provide storage expertise, but only EMC professional service personnel have the requisite knowledge, training, experience, and access to internal EMC development and advanced technical support resources. While non-certified firm can provide a technical support person, that person will not possess the necessary skills to support the EMC storage systems that have already been installed at the SEC. Without immediate access to an EMC Partner to provide the required expertise, the SEC mission critical services supported by this EMC storage infrastructure such as Concordance, SAS, Email and file services, would be placed in jeopardy and resolution may not be possible in a timely fashion preventing the commission from satisfying its federal charter of protecting the investor.
