Description
Description: The Project Manager for Maneuver Ammunition Systems (PM-MAS),Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is currently seeking sources for the manufacture anddelivery of 7.62mm, M973 (ball)/M974 (tracer) Short Range Training Ammunition(SRTA) Cartridges in either a 4:1 (4 ball/M973 to 1 trace/M974) linkedconfiguration or an all ball (M973) linked configuration. Both of thesecartridges (M973 and M974) provide a realistic restricted range trainingalternative to M80/M62 service ammunition. The 7.62mm SRTA/SRTA-T trainingammunition is intended for use in the M240 family of machine guns. Specifications: The cartridge shall conform to the requirements of MIL-PRF-71167B(AR) for M973 Ball SRTA and M974 Tracer SRTA - PerformanceSpecifications dated on 23 December 2008. Copies of these specifications maybe obtained by written notice to the point of contact listed below. Planned Acquisition: The anticipated requirement in Fiscal Year (FY) 10 isapproximately 4,200,000 each 11,200,000 each. The anticipated requirementsfor FY11-FY14 are approximately 4,400,000 each for each FY. The firstincremental delivery will be required to be made within 120 days from the dateof award of contract. Submission Information: All responsible interested sources are encouraged tosubmit their capabilities/qualification data. The respondent's capabilitiesinformation must demonstrate a capability for high rate production anddelivery of these cartridges. The qualification data should includeinformation stating if a qualified design is already approved by thegovernment and if any revisions, modifications or changes to the previouslyqualified design have been made since verification testing. The respondentmust provide documentation listing all proposed changes and rationale for thechange(s). Sources also must list source(s) of the data, and if the data wasgenerated by independent test agencies. The respondent should includeinformation regarding the current status of the production equipment, and if amold is used, to make 7.62mm SRTA Ball/SRTA-T (Tracer) projectile. If a moldis used please state if it is a production mold or a prototype mold. Therespondent should include information regarding the delivery capabilities ofboth of four (4) ball to one (1) tracer linked configuration and/or an allball linked configuration. Any source proposing a non-qualified design mustinclude the status of their design and any plans for qualification of thatdesign.
