- The U.S. Department of Transportation, Research and Innovative Technology Administration, John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center), Cambridge, MA, is conducting a sources sought notice to locate business concerns interested in leasing railroad and bus services and all required maintenance for moving 1,200 people twice per week in Virginia. Operations would consist of the following: Bus transport: Between Fort Lee and Petersburg and between Guinea Station and AP Hill; Rail Transportation: Between Petersburg and Guinea Station; Days of service: Sunday and Thursday; Sunday: Transportation of people from Fort Lee to AP Hill; Thursday: Transportation of people from AP Hill to Fort Lee; Operations: Sunday: Bus service from Fort Lee to Petersburg to connect with rail service from Petersburg to Guinea Station to connect with bus service from Guinea Station to AP Hill; Thursdays: Bus service from AP Hill to Guinea Station to connect with rail service from Guinea Station to Petersburg to connect with bus service from Petersburg to Fort Lee. All bus and rail transportation connections will be coordinated to minimize overall trip time duration. Information provided should be detailed in the area(s) above so the Government can assess the ability of your company to provide the described services. All of the information sought should be conveyed in no more than eight (8) pages. Font size should be between 11-12 with page size set at 8 X 11, doubled spaced in either Word or PDF. Each response must reference the sources sought title. All Offerors must state whether they are a large or small business. Offerors are requested to provide their DUNS and CCR numbers. Interested parties must respond to this announcement electronically (via email) within 15 days of publication. Mailed, telephonic, and faxed requests will not be honored. All responses must be sent to the attention of Guy Hillman, electronically via email. Please e-mail all responses to: Guy.Hillman@dot.gov. All data received in response to this announcement marked or designated as corporate or proprietary information will be protected from release outside the Government in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act provisions. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced separately. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. This notice is for informational and planning purposes only, and is a market research tool to determine the availability and adequacy of potential business sources prior to determining the method of acquisition and possible issuance of a Request for Proposal including the use of any non-profit organization or small business programs.
