Description
Optional Form 612 Solicitation for Food for Peace Officer The Office of Food for Peace (FFP) in the U.S. Agency for International Development's Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA) provides grants for food assistance to private voluntary organizations (PVOs) and the UN World Food Program (WFP) under Title II of Public Law 480. FFP provides both emergency food aid (which aims to address food aid needs arising from natural disasters, such as floods or droughts, and complex emergencies often characterized by insecurity and population displacement) and non-emergency food aid (which aims to address the underlying causes of chronic food insecurity). The selected candidate will work under the general supervision of Policy and Technical Division Chief in FFP, and is given latitude for the exercise of independent judgment. On a day-to-day basis, he/she is expected to independently plan and manage the IDA-funded programs. As a senior expert, the Team Leader is expected to play a leadership role on emergency food security activities (funded under IDA) in the office and the food aid community, and will be responsible for some of the office's most difficult assignments related to IDA-funded emergency food security grants. These assignments will be marked by inter-connected technical, programmatic and politically sensitive issues. He/she will work with senior Bureau and Agency leadership, and have significant responsibility.
