First Article testing is required to ensure the reliability andintegrity of the item and operational safety of the weapon system thatuses it. Offerors can apply for waiver of First Article approval underthe following condition(s): Offerors who have previously furnishedproduction quantities of the same or similar article to the primecontractor for delivery to the DoD, offerors currently in production ofthe same or similar article for a DoD, offerors who have previouslyfurnished production quantities of the same or similar articles to theDoD, and provided not more than 36 months have elapsed since completionof the contract. Note: Determination of acceptability of 'or similar'items may only be made by the engineering office initiating this FirstArticle requirement. Must be "RIGHTS GUARD" certified in order to receive and view thedrawings for this solicitation.
