Description
The U.S. Geological Survey, Menlo Park Radiation Safety Committee, has a one-time requirement for disposal of low-level Nuclear Wastes from the temporary storage facility in Menlo Park, CA. The Contractor shall coordinate and manage the safe transfer of radioactive wastes from the temporary storage facility to an authorized disposal site. In November 2005, USGS awarded a noncompetitive four year delivery order to New World Technologies, Inc. under their GSA Schedule for services to manage the Radiation Safety Program in Menlo Park, CA. The services included, in part, managing receipt of radioactive wastes from Permit Holder laboratories and administering the transfer to the waste storage facility at the USGS waste storage quarterly. The present requirement for the disposal of low-level Nuclear Wastes is considered a follow-on to that award. New World Technology, Inc., Livermore, CA is, to the USGS' knowledge, the only interested and qualified contractor because they oversee the overall program including managing receipt of radioactive wastes from Permit Holder laboratories and administer the transfer to the waste storage facility. Therfore, they are intimately aware of the types of waste produced from the labs and have a high degree of familiarity with the types of waste and their final packaging. As such, the government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) to New World Technology for the services. Other interested concerns having the ability to meet the USGS' requirement may submit a capabilities statement to the Contracting Officer no later than the closing date of this announcement at 16:00 local time. All submissions will be evaluated to determine if competitive opportunities exist. If no competitive opportunities exist, a request for quotation will be made available to New World Technology on or about 04 Dec 2009. This notice and any resulting quotation or purchase order conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-37, effective 13 Nov 2009. NAICS 562910 - Remediation Services, for which the associated size standard is $14 million.
