Description
Interface Level Instrument Sources Sought Announcement The purpose of this sources sought notice solicits engineering and industry to express their capability to provide Interface Level Instrumentation (ILI) which will be used to detect and measure a solvent layer floating on a liquid waste in storage tanks. The requirements are unique due to the location of the tanks, the environment that the instrument will be exposed to, and the varying thickness of the solvent layer. The solvent is used for extracting radioactive material from the liquid waste. The solvent is primarily Isopar TM L A with a specialty extractant (BOBCalixC6) B at 0.007M concentration, a modifier (Cs-75B) C at 0.75M concentration and a suppressant (tri-n-octylamine) at 0.003M concentration. The ILI is to be used for monitoring the solvent layer in a 6' Φ horizontal vessel approximately 40' below a concrete deck. Access to the vessel for the instrument is via a 2" NPS pipe. There is an additional application to monitor the solvent layer in a 4' Φ vertical vessel approximately 25' below a concrete deck. Access to this vessel is also via 2" NPS pipe. The solvent will float on the top of the aqueous waste (typically caustic or acid solutions) in the vessels and will form a layer from less than a quarter of an inch to several inches in thickness. The waste level in the vessels will vary during process operations and will be measured separately by other instrumentation. The ILI is intended solely for solvent level measurements. Interested sources are invited to respond to this sources sought announcement by 5:00 P.M., 4 December 2009 by contacting: Andrew J. Grodzicki, SWPF Procurement, 803-641-8932, or emailing andrew.grodzicki@parsons.com. A The Isopar TM L diluents is a branched 12-carbon (average) aliphatic B The chemical name for the extract is Calix[4]arene-bis(tert-octylbenzo-crown-6) C The chemical name for the modifier is 1-(2,2,3,3-Tetrafluropropoxy)-3-(4-sec-butylphenox)-2-propanol
