- Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, MA intends to award a Firm fixed Price Purchase Order to Paulson Manufacturing Corp. of Temecula CA, for research and development of improved materials for transparent armor applications for Personal Protective Equipment, specifically the development of various improved face shields and goggles. Paulson Manufacturing Corporation will fabricate samples (plaques and items) from various polymer materials with various thicknesses for NSRDEC evaluation in monolithic as well as in hybrid systems. Through CRADA efforts with Natick, Paulson designed molds specifically for Natick for test panels that require specific dimension for our study. Paulson also designed, under same CRADA, a new mold for face shield that corrects the prismatic effects through progressive thickness variation. One of the military fragment protective face shields (0.25 inch thickness) is currently supplied only by Paulson. This proposed service request will take advantage of the equipment designed in conjunction with Natick through CRADA agreement. The objectives of these services are development of various new advanced performance face shields and goggles. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future.
