- The Cascade Ranger District of the Boise National Forest will be conducting a pre-solicitation tour for the upcoming spring 2010 planting contract. It is currently expected that the contract will involve approximately 3,500 acres of hoedad planting of tree seedlings and will commence during May and June of 2010. The solicitation will be out for bid later this winter. The purpose of this trip is to give prospective bidders the ability to view the general area of planting so that they will have a better understanding of the access challenges associated with this contract. The tour will begin at the Cascade Ranger District office in Cascade, Idaho at 9 am on Thursday, November 19th, 2009. The Forest Service will lead the trip to the Warm Lake area and will point out some of the planting areas from Warm Lake highway and other dirt roads in the project area. Maps showing approximate locations of units will be provided on the day of the tour. Round trip distance from Cascade will be approximately 70 miles and attendees will need to provide their own transportation. Travel to Warm Lake requires travel over Big Creek Summit on a steep, windy, paved road. Snowy and muddy conditions can be expected, depending on weather conditions.
