Description
The response time for the Request Informations for is extended until 20 Nov 2009. This a repeat of the previous narrative posted on 4 Nov 2009. Attached is a copy of the DRAFT performance specification (MIL-PRF-32335) titled Interim Military Performance Specification TriCon Refrigerated Container System (TRCS). This specification covers three different types of systems as follows: Type I - electrically powered refrigeration/freezing/heating unit with full width double doors; Type II* - diesel/electric powered refrigeration/freezing/heating unit with full width double doors; Type III - electrically powered rerigeration/freezing/heating unit with a single man door with recessed operating handle. * For Type II, it is anticipated that an Engineering Change Proposal Clause will implemented into the future solicitation/contract. The Government intends to procure the best value, current leading edge refrigerated container system to meet the specified requirements. In addition, the DRAFT specification contains an interface requirement to allow the previously fielded Refrigeration Unit (Thermo King Model: VM405 PBDD2) to fit with the new TRCS insulated container. For Type I, the TRCS will have very specific equipment pack out requirement. A packing plan will be provided as an addendum to the DRAFT specification. This DRAFT performance specification is being released to commercial industry for review, comments and questions. The specification will be used to support a planned acquisition of the TRCS for the Army and Air Force in 2010. The Governments intent is to develop a performance specification that meets multi-service Military requirements while allowing industry to provide innovate, cost effective, quality, safe and sustainable systems. As part of this RFI, the Government also asks that information (i.e. marketing sheets, specification sheets, drawings, test report, manual, etc.) be provided by industry to identify if you have a TRCS system that currently meets all of the stated requirements, if changes are required to an existing system to meet the requirements or if a new system must be developed. If modifications are required, please identify what changes are necessary. Please also provide estimated pricing data for existing systems and the cost for modifications to meet the stated requirements as written. If industry believes there are requirements that significantly drive the cost up or are unattainable by best commercial practices, please also identify those issues in your comments. Items currently annotated in red text need to be reviewed and finalized by the Government before the TRCS Solicitation is released. If interested, please mark up the current DRAFT using the Track Changes or Insert Comments features imbedded in Microsoft Word. Consolidated comments, changes and questions from commercial industry are due back to the Government no later than COB 20 November 2009. Industry can also request a teleconference via email with the Governments Point of Contacts at their convenience. The POCs are: Mr. Paul Mandile (Combat Feeding Directorate) and Mr. Benjamin Campbell (Product Manager - Force Sustainment Systems), US Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center.
