Description
SCOPE OF WORK: The textile conservator will provide preventive treatment and maintenance of the Kennedy Center textiles. REQUIREMENT: To de-install and surface clean textiles to include vacuuming, deep cleaning, stain removal (as necessary), with wet and dry agents, to dry sponge, clean and repair of weak and/or damaged areas. To repair and/or replace frames and textiles mounts and attachments; to re-install textiles using contractor provided ladder, scaffolding and/or other equipment required to complete work. TEXTILES AND LOCATIONS: There are 24 textiles and tapestries located throughout the Kennedy Center. The textiles and locations are as follows: Matisse Tapestries (2) - Opera House front of house (north/south) African Textiles (10) - African Room Goya Tapestries (2) - Golden Circle Lounge Czech Tapestries (2) - Opera House Box Tier Lounge Days of Creation (6) - Roof Terrace South Nierman Tapestries (2) - Eisenhower Theater front of house (north/south) CONSERVATION/CLEANING SCHEDULE: The conservator will coordinate with the COTR to schedule cleaning and maintenance work at the convenience of the Kennedy Center's programming schedule. Contract requirement will be for cleaning/maintenance to occur twice annually. As an annual requirement, the conservator will provide electronic update of condition and completed (to-date) treatment of each textile and recommendations to be added to existing master database. Recommend vendor location not be outside of the DC/VA/MD area of more than 50 mile radius for convenience to the Kennedy Center. All interested parties must respond in writing to pdmillbrook-young@kennedy-center.org by no later than 2:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2009. Please provide a brief history o fthe company similar projects, pictures of work restored and capabilities. GSA Schedule holders are encouraged to compete.
