Description
The United States Army CECOM Contracting Center, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21010, intends to award a sole source contract to Smiths Detection Inc. 2202 Lakeside Blvd, Edgewood, MD 21040, IAW under the authority of 10 U. S. C. 2304 (a),(1), FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source. The intended contract will be a two-year Firm-Fixed price/ Time and Materials, Indefinite Quantity contract for technical and software support services for the Meteorological Measuring Set (MMS) and the MMS-Profiler (MMSP) systems. Delivery Orders will be issued for each task. The MMSs are upper air meteorological systems that use state-of-the-art technology to produce vertical profiles of the earths atmosphere. They provide the Army with a modernized, real time meteorological capability, and are designed to support the new generation of field artillery weapons. Smiths Detection developed the MMS and MMS-P, and possesses unique knowledge of the design of these systems that is necessary to meet the Governments requirements. The Government does not possess a detailed technical data package suitable for a competitive solicitation. This synopsis is provided for informational purposes and is not to be considered a request for proposal; however, all responsible sources may submit a proposal, which shall be considered by the agency. The POCs for this acquisition are Willie Dimuel (410) 417-0083 and Benjamin Tarr (410) 417- 0088. Solicitation Number W15P7T-10-R-S003 should be issued on or about 02 January 2010. The US Army CECOM Contracting Command has established an Interactive Business Opportunities Page (IBOP) website to allow electronic transmittal of Request for Proposals (RFPs) from CECOM to Industry. All Parties interested in doing business with CECOM Contracting Center are invited to access, operate, send and receive information from IBOP https://abop.monmouth.army.mil.
