The description of the work involved under this Work Authorization is shown below: $900,000 was initially provided for Robust Polymer Composite Membranes for Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Purification at Elevated Temperatures under the first work authorization. This project aims to develop and demonstrate an innovative polymer-based membrane technology for reducing the energy intensity and the greenhouse gas effect of processes used in the chemical, fuels, and power production industries. This three-year project was initially funded at 60% ($900,000); this action adds $540,000 in carryover funding with the remaining funding to follow in FY2011. Multi-year funding will be provided at one time due to the requirements of Recovery Act funds. NOTE: This action is awarded under Modification no. A107 that recognizes Work Authorization no. The funds will be used to develop and demonstrate an innovative polymer-based membrane technology for reducing the energy intensity and the greenhouse gas effect of processes used in the chemical, fuels, and power production industries. The work falls within the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy work scope, which is allowed under the prime contract Section J, Appendix B. Statement of Work Section 3.4 entitled Energy Supply of the current Contract based on the following paragraph: “The Contractor shall conduct research that addresses energy supply issues by applying capabilities in the areas of exploration, reservoir modeling, integrated assessments, and environmental transport.
