- Synopsis This is a pre-solicitation notice for a firm, fixed-price contract to provide janitorial/custodial services for United States Botanic Garden (USBG) facilities located in Washington, DC under the jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol. The contract will be for a base year plus four option years. The base contract work can be summarized as follows: The contractor shall provide all management, supervision, labor, materials and equipment needed to provide Janitorial/Custodial services for the USBG Conservatory, USBG Production Greenhouse Facility, and the USBG Administration Office Building. The Contractor shall perform all work in compliance with all requirements as stated in the SOW. Previous experience in providing janitorial service to similar facilities of Botanic Garden with 50,000 square feet shall be required. Services at the USBG Conservatory shall be performed daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to include weekends and holidays. Some tasks shall be performed after or before normal hours. The USBG is open 365 days per year and hosts over 125 special events in the evenings. As such, contractor schedule flexibility is essential. Services at the USBG Production Greenhouse Facility shall be performed three days per week between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Services at the USBG Administration Office shall be performed Monday - Friday between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Two of the buildings are comprehensive greenhouse operations and not normal facilities. They are the USBG Conservatory and the USBG Production Greenhouse. The USBG conservatory is a living plant museum and greenhouse displaying 4,000 plants. The contractor shall practice extreme sensitivity in carrying out services in facilities that house fauna and flora, as well as beneficial insects and creatures. The contractor shall adapt cleaning methods and products used to ensure no impact to the health of these organisms. The solicitation will be issued on or about December 15, 2009. The due date for receipt of proposals (30) thirty days after the Solicitation Release Date. The solicitation will be available electronically at http://www.aoc.gov/business/procure-opps.cfm on the date of issuance. INTERESTED PARTIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO DOWNLOAD THE ELECTRONIC VERSION AS THIS WILL EXPEDITE RECEIPT OF THE SOLICITATION. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO MONITOR THIS SITE FOR ALL CHANGES!! Date and time for a site visit will be determined later.
