- The National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of SecureTransportation(OST) is seeking possible vendors for Hearing Protection. We areconsideringthe acquisition and fielding of a new Tactical Hearing Protection andCommunication headset. The information sought herein is for planning purposes only and shall notbeconstrued as a request for quote (RFQ), request for proposal (RFP), andinvitation for bid (IFB) or as an obligation or commitment on the part oftheUnited States Government to acquire any product or service. There shall benobasis for claims against the government as a result of informationsubmitted inresponse to the sources sought announcement. The government does not intendtoaward a contract on the basis of this announcement or otherwise pay for any information submitted by respondents to this request. This notice is formarketresearch purposes only and is not indicative of a full requirement. Must not lose communication when subjected toabruptmovements such as running, jumping, wind, precipitation, and must becapable ofallowing continuous communication on 2-way radios if batteries fail.Shall be capable of quick Plug/Unplug from Motorola XTS-5000 radio withouttheuse of any tools and have an In-Line PTT harness cable.Shall be compatible with Delta 4 LT Ballistic helmetWater Resistant battery housing and Battery life of 100+ hoursLeft and Right flexible boom microphone placement for user preferenceShall be Black, Desert Tan, or Olive Drab in colorShall have liquid/gel ear seals and over head comfort in order to wear forlongperiods of timeShall not weigh more the 2 pounds Interested parties should be prepared to send an information packet whichshowstheir headset and communication device meets all the salientcharacteristics.
