Description
For Pay Items 1 & 2, the signs and markers are to be placed on numerous forest roads throughout the forest. 500,000 acres (780 square mile area) Maps of specific roads will be provided to the contractor upon award. Contractors can go to our website (http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/allegheny/) and click on the link for our Motor Vehicle Use Map. For Pay Item 4, the large portal signs are 96" x 48" For Pay Item 5, every site will be different. Some sites will need a new sign. Other sites may need a new post as well. U-Channel sign posts will be provided by the Forest Service. The concrete (Sakrete) for the wooden sign posts shall be provided by the contractor Flexible markers will require only one person to drive in the marker. Horizontal markers will use a wooden post and will probably need two people to set the post with Sakrete. The large portal signs will need at least two people to set the posts and bolt the sign panel to them. The large portal signs are along state road ways, so you may need a flagger for those. Not required though. Other road signs can be done with either one or two people. Some of the GFE will be available at the beginning of the contract. We will have some flexible markers available. The signs are in the procurement process right now, and we do not know when they will be coming in. Notice to Proceed may not be issued until all the signs and equipment are available to the contractor. It should be by the beginning of spring. The resulting contract will be a performance-based service contract; therefore, the wage rates are the DOL rates for the area of performance. No bonding is required.
