Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award on a sole source basis a contract to Suburban Surgical Company, Inc., of Wheeling, IL for eighty (80) specialized non-human primate cages. JKT Development, Inc., is hereby granted authority to act on behalf of CDC for purchase of caging. The authority for this sole source procurement is FAR Part 6.302-1 in that Suburban Surgical Company, Inc., is the only known source with the knowledge required to provide these services/supplies. A few of the characteristics for the caging is as follows: Caging must be stainless steel, four compartment socialization caging to allow at least four primates to be housed in each rack unit. Side opening doors that are enlarged in width, instead of guillotine doors; to comfortably open the doors without risk to humans or the animals. Socialization opportunities should be provided for animals housed next to each other, above or below each other, or other the ability of the whole quad rack to be used for group socializations. The floor panels and ceiling panels, when opened, should also allow visual barriers between animals housed vertically or horizontally; are self storing and operable from outside cage. Excreta pans should be flush pans instead of pans that have to be pulled out of the unit for cleaning. Pans should also be able to tilt and become metabolism pans. This is not a request for competitive proposals. This is an all or none requirement. This is not a set-aside. A written solicitation will not be issued.
