- Description
- The work includes sand bypassing from the beach north of the Canaveral Harbor inlet to the beach south of the Canaveral Harbor inlet. The Sand Bypass Borrow Area (SBBA) is defined as the area between the mean high water line and the -19.3 ft NAVD 88 contour, and between the north jetty of the Canaveral Harbor navigation channel and a parallel line 8,300 feet north. The Southern Beach/placement area is 12,560 ft beginning at Monument R-1T and continuing to monument R-14, and landward elevation of approximately +7.2 ft NAVD 88, sloping gradually to a seaward crest elevation of approximately +6.2 ft NAVD 88, with seaward slope of approximately 1:25 to the intersection with the existing seabed. In order to facilitate the bypass the Contractor shall dig a trench across Cut 2 of the Canaveral Harbor Entrance Channel. This trench must be deep enough in order to have 3 feet of cover over the pipeline while not impeding on the required depth of the channel. The contract includes a base and three options founded on production excavation quantity and funding. The estimated quantities are 485,000 cubic yards for the Base, 65,000 cubic yards for Option A, 50,000 cubic yards for Option B, and 30,000 cubic yards for Option C. The order of placement for the base and all options shall be from south to north. This work also includes beach tilling, turbidity monitoring, vibration control monitoring, and endangered species monitoring.
