Description
This publication serves as notice of intent to lease deep-sea camera system from Woods Hole Oceanographic Instution (WHOI) for NOAA, Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL). WHOI will provide deep-towed camera system for research expedition in approximately 27 April to May 10, 2010. System consists of the following: (1) digital camera system and strobe in deep-sea pressure cases (6000 meters) capable of internal recording of high resolution seafloor images; (2) CTD system to record temperature, salinity and pressure; (3) 4 6.5 Liter Niskin bottles mounted on system; (4) batteries and battery charger(s); (5) electronics to operate system from surface ship; (5) miscellaneous tools and other accessories. System components will be shipped to Seattle and thence shipped by sea to Apra, Guam with other PMEL equipment to be used on cruises in western Pacific in March-May 2010. The system will be made ready for use while in port in Independent Samoa prior to sailing on (approximately) April 18, 2010. WHOI will also provide one sea-going technician to operate the system. We anticipate having 10-12 deployments of the system during the period of 27 April to 10 May, 2010. The system will be shipped back to Seattle by sea with other PMEL equipment following the cruise approximately 11 May arriving within about 1 month. System will then be shipped back to WHOI. Authority for sole-source purchase is 41 USC 253 (c) (1) only one responsible source and no other source will satify agency needs. This notice of intent is not a request for competitve proposals. However, all proposals received within 15 days of this publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government.
