- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Center isreleasing a NASA Research Announcement (NRA), for Ground-based Studies for the SpaceRadiation Program Element (SPRE) in the area of Space Radiation Biology utilizing beamsof high energy ions simulating space radiation at the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory(NSRL) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in Upton, New York.NASA Research Announcement # NNJ10ZSA001N, entitled "Ground-Based Studies in SpaceRadiobiology", will be available electronically on or about January 8, 2010, by openingthe NASA Research Opportunities homepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and thenlinking through the menu listings "Solicitations" to "Open Solicitations". Proposals should be submitted electronically via NASAs proposal data system, NASASolicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System (NSPIRES)(http://nspires.nasaprs.com). Until further notice, proposers will be unable tosubmit proposals intended for NASA through Grants.gov.Step-1 proposals are due on February 16, 2010, and invited Step-2 proposals are due onApril 20, 2010. Proposals are required to be submitted electronically and must besubmitted by an authorized official of the proposing organization. Participation is open to all categories of organizations, including educationalinstitutions, industry, nonprofit organizations, NASA centers, and other Governmentagencies. Electronic proposals may be submitted via the NASA centers, and other Governmentagencies. Electronic proposals must be submitted via the NASA Proposal data systemNSPIRES. Every organization that intends to submit a proposal in response to this NRAmust be registered with NSPIRES, and such registration must identify the authorizedorganizational representative(s) who will submit the electronic proposal. Each electronicproposal system places requirements on the registration of principal investigators andother participants (e.g. co-investigators). Potential proposers and proposingorganizations are urged to access the system(s) well in advance of the proposal duedate(s) of interest to familiarize themselves with its structure and enter the requestedinformation. Questions concerning responding to this NRA may be addressed to the contactsreferenced in the full solicitation document. This is a broad agency announcement as specified in FAR 6.102 (d)(2).
