Description
The National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of SecureTransportation(OST) is seeking possible vendors for concealable body armor. We aresoliciting manufacturers for interest (via SOURCES SOUGHT) in helping us to identify items currently in production that may meet our requirements. The information sought herein is for planning purposes only and shall notbeconstrued as a request for quote (RFQ), request for proposal (RFP), andinvitation for bid (IFB) or as an obligation or commitment on the part oftheUnited States Government to acquire any product or service. There shall benobasis for claims against the government as a result of informationsubmitted inresponse to the sources sought announcement. The government does not intendtoaward a contract on the basis of this announcement or otherwise pay for any information submitted by respondents to this request. This notice is formarketresearch purposes only and is not indicative of a full requirement. Shouldafull requirement arise, the full requirement will be detailed in thesolicitation, if issued for questions please contact Jon Holmberg, Phone:505.845.6347or email: JHolmberg@doeal.gov CONCEALABLE BODY ARMORNAICS: 339113 FSC: 8470 Business Size: Small The Concealable Body Armor must meet the following characteristics: Must meet or exceed the rigorous requirements of the NIJ-STD-0101.06 forlevelIIIA protection.Ballistic material of Twaron/ Dyneema.Must have a slim front panel shape and a full back panel with soft flexible fabric.Plate pocket for soft trauma insert.Adjustable and removable shaped shoulder straps and reversible loaddistributing shaped side straps.Overlapping side closure for extra protection.Light weight not to exceed 1.01 lbs. sq. ft and extremely comfortableduringextended duty assignments.Vendor shall be able to provide qualified sizing representative to traveltofacilities. In order to measure each Federal Agent for proper fit.Locationswill be provided at time of solicitation.Washable outer shell with moisture wicking system for breathability andkeepingbody cool while reducing odor causing bacteria.Minimum 5 year warrantyBody armor shall be delivered within 30 days after receipt of measurements.Black, Olive, Tan or Brown in color.Soft armor panels shall be completely sealed and waterproofedSelf inspection visibility option a plusVest must have bicep and chest region cutout to prevent irritation or armmovement restriction.
