Description
Sources Sought M240L Medium Machine Gun (MMG) Contracting Office Address: U.S. Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions and Lethality Contracting Center, Soldier Weapons (CCJM-SW) Phipps Road, Bldg. 9,Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. Description: This notice is a Sources Sought announcement. There is nosolicitation available at this time. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, JointMunitions and Lethality Contracting Center, on behalf of the Project Manager, Crew Served Weapons is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources for fabrication and delivery of the M240L Medium Machine Gun (MMG) and spare parts. The M240L Medium Machine Gun (MMG)is to be manufactured, inspected, assembled, packaged and shipped in accordance with the M240L Government Technical Data Package (TDP) and tested in accordance with the Weapon Specification. The M240L Medium Machine Gun (MMG) is a gas-operated, air-cooled, belt-fed 7.62mm weapon that fires NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) standard ammunition from an open bolt position. It features a folding bipod, quick change barrel assembly with integral carrying handle gas system, feed cover, bolt assembly (which allows closing of the cover regardless of bolt position), plastic buttstock, integral optical sight rail, and forward rails. TheM240L Medium Machine Gun (MMG) features are a titanium receiver, redesigned barrel assembly with recontoured outer dimensions, titanium carrying handle, and lighter weight gashousing; and pistol grip/trigger frame assembly composed of a metal/polymer hybrid. This notice is to determine if there are sources capable of manufacturing the M240L Medium Machine Gun (MMG) for an approximate quantity of 8,339 with three (3) one-year ordering periods. The contract shall require the successful completion of a First Article sample test, and ongoing lot acceptance tests. The First Article sample shall be required to be submitted to theGovernment 360 days after contract award. Monthly production deliveries shall commence within 90 days after USG approval of the First Article. Production deliveries are to be ramped up to a quantity of 350 per month. Should an RFP be issued for this action, award will be made on a limited basis to U.S. production only, due to licensing agreements between the Government and the current manufacturer. All responding sources shall provide a summary of their Companys capabilities including organizations, name/address/point of contact identification, capabilities, a description of facilities/equipment, manufacturing process, inspection capability, personnel, past experience, and current production capacity per month and whether the company is a small or large business. The Government expects that to be responsive to this requirement a contractor willneed the capacity to manufacture M240L Medium Machine Guns. All responsible, interested offerors are encouraged to submit their capabilities/qualification data and any pertinent information in hard copy or via email, no later than 5 January 2010: U.S. Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions & Lethality Contracting Center, Soldier Weapons (CCJM-SW) Phipps Road, Bldg. 9, Attn: Sergio F.
