Description
THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. This opportunity is only available to the contractor awarded Malo East Lake Stewardship Project the contract for work in response to Solicitation No. AG-05G1-S-09-9018, on the Republic Ranger District, Ferry County, WA, Colville National Forest. That contractor is Vaagen Brothers Lumber, Inc. 565 West Fifth Avenue, Colville, WA 99114, Telephone: 509-684-5071. The original solicitation was competitively advertised and awarded based on best value criteria. The Government intends to award a single task order based on pre-established firm fixed prices derived from the basic contract. This project will be partially or wholly funded with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds and is subject to all reporting requirements thereto. The Malo East Lake Stewardship Project is an integrated resource basic contract AG-05G1-C-09-9015 that generally includes logging/forest product removal, fuel reduction, road construction, landing and woody biomass removal. The issuance of Task Order 3 is specifically awarded for fuel reduction service work that involves thinning, ladder fuel reduction, slash piling and creation of shaded fuel breaks. This work will result in retaining healthy, vigorous understory trees to improve tree conditions and forest health, reduce ladder fuels located beneath overstory trees to reduce individual tree torching potential, provide a fuel loading profile that promotes defensible space for fire suppression, and for the re-introduction of fire in the project area. Fuel loading objectives relate to the remaining tons/acre and size of material left after treatment. The area treated is approximately 430 acres. The resultant contract(s) will be a firm-fixed price. Subcontracting opportunities may be available. If you have questions about this project please contact Kris Bellini, Contract Specialist at (509) 684-7113.
