- Description
- Zeiss Discovery V12 stereo microscope upgrade to high resolution fluorescence imaging. Our Cascade Microtech probe station for life sciences includes a basic microscopy capability (the Zeiss Discovery V12) as well as integrated micro fluidic probes that allow for simultaneous fluid connection and electrical connection to a micro fluidic chip. In order to image one micrometer sized objects the Zeiss microscope magnification must be increased. In order to detect molecular fuctionalization of these objects fluorescence capability must be added to the Zeiss microscope. The probe station came with the basic model Zeiss Discovery V12 microscope for biological imaging with a low resolution objective and without florescence capabilities and we need to buy Zeiss components for the Discovery V12 to affect the upgrade. Required Zeiss components: Note: Relevant Ziess brochures are included for reference. 1) Flouresence upgrade: A fluorescence imaging upgrade for a Zeiss Discovery V12 microscope including a UV light source, filter cube holder, FITC filters cube, and a reflecting cube for visible light. Fluorescence stereomicroscopy means visualizing specific fluorochromes and fluorescent proteins, working with large object fields and high resolution. With the "PentaFluar" S, the Stereo Discovery can be equipped for many fluorescence applications. The Zeiss parts and part numbers are listed below. The objective requires a new light source, two new ring illuminators, light cable and rod, and the appropriate spacer ring. Also, a firmware upgrade is required for the new objective.
