Description
Pre Qual Questionnaire Scope of Work This scope of work is for remediation of the remaining 100-C-7 and 100-C-7:1 waste sites. Remediation will involve the excavation of chromium contaminated soil and structural materials from adjacent sub-grade structures and the packaging of this material into shipping containers. After loading, the containers will be sealed and placed in a transfer area for pickup by others. Miscellaneous waste such as drums, bottles, tanks or vessels may require repackaging and special handling prior to shipping. Oversized debris may require size reduction to facilitate waste loading. This work is considered to be hazardous in nature and will require personnel to have OSHA 40-hour and applicable radioactive worker training. The work includes performing construction activities, and furnishing necessary facilities, equipment, labor, materials, supplies, and tools. This work also includes maintaining and upgrading the container transfer area and haul roads. This work scope includes performance of operations necessary to excavate, segregate, size reduce, stage above cleanup level and stockpile below cleanup level materials, containerize, load (direct loading if approved by CONTRACTOR), weigh, and transport materials from the waste sites to the container transfer areas. This work includes container tarping and maintenance, on-site access control, and housekeeping. In addition to contaminated soil, structural materials, metal debris, and other miscellaneous debris, this work scope includes performance of operations and incidentals for the handling, processing, and staging of buried drums (if found), and industrial hygiene monitoring. Disposal containers may include truck-and-pup style material handling vehicles, as directed by CONTRACTOR. Following award, mobilization, submittals, and readiness assessment, field work is anticipated to span between Fiscal Year 2011 and Fiscal Year 2012. WASTE SITE DESCRIPTIONS Site: 100-C-7/ 100-C-7:1 Description: 183-C Head House Foundation and Stained Soils, 183-C Filter Building/ Pumproom Facility Foundation and Stained Soils Special Issues/Considerations : Characterization data indicate deep chromium (total and hexavalent) contamination throughout the soil column to groundwater elevation. Adjacent to the remediation areas are heavily reinforced concrete sub-grade structures and a high-pressure active export water line that is expected to be relocated by others to facilitate waste site remediation. Nature and extent of subsurface contamination is not known. Subcontractor should expect plume growth. OTHER INFORMATION Potential bidders will be required to complete a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, available on this web site, and be pre-qualified by WCH. A job site walk-down will be required for potential bidders. Participants must be able to meet applicable DOE requirements for site access.
