Description
AIR FORCE/INDUSTRY SPACE TECHNOLOGY INTERCHANGE WORKSHOP FOR INDEPENDENT RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT (IR&D) AND SMALL BUSINESS INNOVATION RESEARCH (SBIR) COMMERCIALIZATION PILOT PROGRAM (CPP). The Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), the Space and Missiles Systems Center (SMC), and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) will conduct a space technology interchange workshop during the first week of April 2010 in Long Beach, California. This invitation to attend the workshop is open to DoD military, civilians, DoD technical support contractors, and Industry contractors that maintain a valid DD Form 2345, Militarily Critical Technical Data Agreement. This workshop is not intended to supersede or conflict with any part of the SMC Industry Day Symposium scheduled for the same week. This AFRL workshop will be composed of two parts: a general Plenary Session, and simultaneous tracks of break-out sessions in IR&D and SBIR CPP. The Plenary Session will consist of briefings from AFSPC, SMC and AFRL on Air Force near and mid-term space technology needs. Following this overview, the AF will facilitate IR&D Q&A sessions whereby major contractors are afforded an opportunity to ask questions of the government team relevant to the plenary briefings. Simultaneously, one-on-one sessions between prime contractors and small businesses to address specific SBIR projects with relevance to major contractors work. Available time per session will be allotted to each qualifying company interested in each of the IR&D Q&A sessions and SBIR one-on-one sessions. Please note small businesses attendance is by invitation only. This announcement is an expression of interest only and does not obligate the government in any way. Response to this request is voluntary and will not impact any future acquisitions. RESPONSE: Please respond, to the appropriate point of contact as shown below, no later than 60 calendar days before the first day of the workshop with your intent to attend the workshop and a copy of your DD Form 2345, Militarily Critical Technical Data Agreement. RESTRICTIONS: These meetings are unclassified, U.S. Defense companies only. In order to attend, you must either be a DoD employee or DoD contractor with a valid DD Form 2345. LIMITATIONS: Due to resource constraints and expectations for responses to this announcement, we anticipate having a more limited group of companies to participate in these sessions. For complete information on the Air Force Research Laboratory IR&D and SBIR CPP Technology Interchange Workshops, including the selection process and criteria please visit the following website -- http://www.wpafb.af.mil/library/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=5558. In this website, go to the link that says "Click here for UPCOMING IR&D EVENTS". This website provides additional detail of the general workshop event and the two tracks of IR&D and SBIR Transition Support. If you are interested in attending this workshop or if you have any questions, please notify the following points of contact - for the AF IR&D Program: Mr. Giovanni Pagán, 937-656-9176, giovanni.pagan@wpafb.af.mil; for the AF SBIR Transition Support program: Mr. Richard Flake, 937-255-0706, richard.flake@wpafb.af.mil. Disclaimer of Protection and Handling of Proprietary Information: In an effort to ease the coordination needed for multiple nondisclosure agreements between multiple parties prior to the upcoming IR&D Workshop, AFRL offers the following. It is the policy of AFRL to treat all IR&D abstracts and relevant presentations as proprietary and to disclose their contents only for the purpose of Government analysis, planning and execution of AF/Industry Technology Interchange Workshops for IR&D and SBIR. Standard proprietary disclaimers notwithstanding, IR&D abstracts may be reviewed by non-Government technical support contractors and technical experts on the IR&D team who have signed a nondisclosure agreement with the Government. Personnel under contract with AFRL who have completed the appropriate nondisclosure agreements will also handle the IR&D abstracts for administrative purposes. All proprietary information is submitted with the above understanding and should be marked accordingly. If you take exception to the aforementioned statements, you must notify the AFRL IR&D Program Office, AFRL.HQ.IRDPM@WPAFB.AF.MIL, or call 937-656-9176, no later than 60 calendar days before the first day of the workshop to make alternate arrangements for the handling of your proprietary information.
