Description
The Great Lakes Acquisition Center, Department of Veterans Affairs, is Requesting Information on available sources to assist veterans and their families with housing placement assistance in the Milwaukee and Madison areas of Wisconsin that is consistent with HUD-VASH program objectives. The goal is to rapidly assess and place Veterans referred by VA staff into Section 8 eligible, permanent housing. Tasks include, but are not limited to: Task 1: Identification of Section 8 Eligible Housing Units Contractor will be responsible for identifying sufficient units of housing to place veterans in safe, permanent housing that is eligible for Section 8 rental. Identification of suitable, eligible housing units generally requires: a) development of an active liaison relationship with the local Public Housing Authority and area landlords; b) knowledge of area housing market; c) knowledge resources available to facilitate move into Section 8 housing; d) knowledge of public transportation serving identified housing; e) proximity of medical, mental health and other rehabilitation services needed by the Veteran and their family members; and f) proximity of employment. Contractor is responsible for providing VA with lists of potential housing units, along with a written summary of size, location, and condition of the available housing units. Task 2: Placement of Veterans in Section 8 Housing Units Contractor is expected to place Veterans and their families in eligible Section 8 Housing Units. Task 3: Status Reports Contractors shall be responsible for providing VA with documentation demonstrating that placement objectives are being met throughout the contract period. Contractors who can provide these services shall respond to Becky Cincotta at becky.cincotta@va.gov no later than January 4, 2010 and include references.
