Description
The work of this project consists of removing lead paint from two restroom structures at Northfield Brook Lake in Thomaston, Connecticut. One restroom structure is located at the Main Recreation Area and the other is at the Beach Area. Both restrooms are A-Frame type stuctures constructed primarily of concrete and wood. They are approximately 24-feet by 16-feet in plan, with the lower edge of the roof slopes extending to within approximately three feet of the ground surface. Concrete walls extend to about seven feet above ground on the gable ends and to the lower edge of the roof slope on the other sides. Lead paint in the structures is found on all interior concrete surfaces and water supply and waste line piping. This lead paint shall be removed by the Contractor in its entirety from both structures. The procedures used to remove the lead paint shall not damage the underlying concrete or piping. The Contractor may, at his option, remove and replace piping in lieu of removing just the lead paint from the existing pipes. All work, including protection of workers, shall be performed in accordance with Federal, State, and local rules and regulations, and the specifications, regarding removal and disposal of lead paint. Painting of concrete surfaces and piping after the removal of the lead paint is not required. The estimated cost of this procurement is between $25,000 and $100,000.
