Description
Rear Projection Dome Display Screen Objective: The objective of this procurement is to provide to pilots and to other decision makers an environment that simulates actual flight conditions in order to prototype modifications to the F-16 C/D block 30 aircraft. The Government has determined that the best way to simulate this actual environment is through the use of a spherical dome display screen to meet the specifications described in the paragraphs below. Rear projectors will display images of the world (sky, ground, buildings, etc.) on the outside of the translucent dome. The pilot and cockpit will be located within the dome. Scope: The scope of this procurement includes a pre-bid site survey, a post-award site survey, creation and installation of two spherical domes and support structure, acceptance testing, and other related documentation. The projector system is not part of this procurement. Dome Requirements: -16' - 17' inside diameter minimum, self supporting spherical dome. -The entire dome display screen and any associated support pedestal must physically fit within a 15' 4" maximum height to allow for projectors at the polar cap. The room has a ceiling height of 19' 9". -Dome Panels will be manufactured in small enough pieces to fit through 7'2" x 6'0" doorway. -Continuous horizontal Field-Of-View (FOV) will cover 360 degrees except for a 5'8" x 6'8" opening in the rear. -Continuous vertical FOV will be 90 degrees up and a minimum of 30 degrees look down. -Vendor shall be responsible to arrange all tooling and fasteners needed to install the dome and fasten it safely to the floor. The floor is 5" concrete on crushed rock. -The inner dome surface shall be coated to provide a gain of at least 1.0 to provide a good contrast ratio for rear projection surface. -The pilot's nominal eye location is the center of the dome. - The dome will require multiple portals near the floor for wiring and ventilation purposes, size, and location of portals will be determined by the vendor. -The butt joint seams shall be translucent and allow for nearly uninterrupted viewing. Uninterrupted shall be defined as 1 arc-minute translucent seam width at an 8' viewing distance (essentially eye limited). These butt joints can contain no opaque components. -The coating used shall provide uniform luminosity such that total variation of a uniform projection is no more than 20% or ¼ fstop. Instructions for Respondents: 1. Provide Company Name and CAGE code. 2. Include information regarding prior experience in accomplishing similar work relative to the requirements listed above, and references (if applicable) 3. Provide the NAICS code applicable to this acquisition and state whether you are a small business under the size standard that corresponds to the NAICS code. 4. Provide an outline of the major tasks that you feel might need to be accomplished. 5. Provide an estimate as to how long this project will take you. 6. Provide product information on any existing material that you feel can be modified to our specification. 7. State which portions of this project will you complete in house and which will be subcontracted. If possible, we would like to know to if small businesses will be the recipients of the subcontracts. We would also like to know the place of performance of the required tasks.
