- Miami VA Healthcare System Facility Requirements The Miami VA Healthcare System is soliciting proposals to provide space for a 40 bed Residential Facility for Veterans. Award will be based on Technical, Past Performance, and Price. Location will carry more weight when scoring the technical evaluation. Location being requested is within Miami-Dade and Broward County. The desired location of the proposed facility should be within the following boundaries: Commercial Boulevard (North), Kendall (South), to coast (East) and Pembroke Pines & Route 821(West) The facility is designed to function as a long-term (3-6 months) residential rehabilitation program for Veterans in order to promote the development of new skills and attitudes needed to live independently in the community. The program will provide the following services: Vocational rehabilitation, training in community skills, treatment of physical and mental health problems including substance abuse. These services will be provided by VA staff. The building should be between approximately 25,000 sf and 32,000sf and be capable of housing 40 Veterans (male and female) in mostly private rooms with private or semi-private bathrooms. The building must meet all NFPA Fire and Safety codes and Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Standards. The VA must be able to connect telecommunications closets and other required services during the building renovations. Laundry facilities need to be on-site. The building needs to be close to public transportation, stores and recreational facilities. Property owner/management is responsible for lawn service, janitorial service, maintenance of the building and property. The space should provide the following: 28 single occupancy rooms, 6 double occupancy rooms, all rooms should have private or semi-private bathrooms, 4-5 groups rooms, conference room, reception area, recreation areas inside and outside, dining room and kitchen, community rooms, computer room, medication room, office space for 16 staff members, several supply rooms and storage areas, 20 parking spaces.
