Description
VA-797-10-RI-0044 REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) FOR AIR PERMEABLE PADS RFI closes February 9, 2010, 4:00 pm Central Standard Time The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Acquisition Center (NAC) intends to issue a Request For Quotations (RFQ) for Air Permeable Pads. VA wishes to determine if there are customary practices in the market place in regards to standards for absorbency testing, etc. via industry comments. Attached find a list of questions VA wishes addressed regarding this issue. 1.What is your standard for absorbency testing? 2.What is your minimum absorbency standard? 3.What type of procedure do you use to test your products' absorbency? 4.How do you test your product absorbency standard - in house testing? Independent lab testing? 5.Are these testing values published? 6.Are these test values available to your customers? 7.Do you test the absorbency as one time or as an ongoing manufacturing quality control? 8.Do you have a standard procedure to perform this evaluation? 9.Are you familiar with British standard? 10.How do you determine whether your manufactured product meets your minimum standard?" 11.How do your other customers pick your products? 12.Are there any standards that your other customers require you to meet? 13.How do your largest customers set criteria for you to meet? 14.What confidence do we have to believe your products reliability for this performance value? 15.What determines your highest quality pad? How is this best measured? 16.What type of core is used to prevent pad from coming apart or bunching? How is this measured? 17.What type of scientific data do you have to support pad's wicking ability and absorption capacity? 18.How do you measure your pad's moisture vapor transmission rate? 19.How do you measure you pad's air permeability?
