Description
This is a Sources Sought Announcement only. The VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System has a need to hire an Architect firm for the design effort to include: (1) concept development, (2) design development to include preparing complete construction documents to construct a 24,000 square foot building to house selected medical and surgical Specialty Clinics among which the Audiology/Speech Pathology Clinic and the Eye Clinic will be considered, and (3) construction support services. This design effort shall include complete architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, life safety and telecom drawings and specifications for the clinics and for the necessary utility and facility support functions. The design shall also substantially meet the VA design criteria as listed in VA design guides and manuals which can be found on the web at the VA Office of Facilities Management technical information library - site address; http://www.cfm.va.gov/TIL In addition, the design shall consider Planetree philosophy and its core components of healing design.Location for the new building has not been decided. Possible locations include the parking lot at Kirman Street/Taylor Street, the entire area adjacent to Locust Street called the "circle flag" area, and one other location left up to the A-E. The location must be carefully coordinated to efficiently fit with other hospital functions to include related medical operations, parking, security, infection control, etc. All existing buildings will be occupied during all construction activities. Appropriate Interim Life Safety Measures (exits, etc) and Infection Control Risk Assessments must be considered. The facility currently consists of a variety of buildings constructed from between 1937 through 2008. Due to this range in building ages, several different exterior finishes exist on campus. Integrate new building into existing architecture, and propose treatments to adjacent buildings to help facilitate a coordinated appearance. At this phase in the procurement process the Department of Veterans Affairs is performing market research to determine if sufficient competition exists in one of the following Socio-economic categories; Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, Veteran-Owned Small Business, Hubzone Small Business, and Small Disadvantage Businesses (8(a)). Interested firms fitting one or more of these Socio-economic categories should send their information by E-mail to margaret.neidigh@va.gov or by fax to 775-428-6171 no later than 4:30 PM Pacific Time February 10, 2010. Information shall include type of socio-economic category and the firms' location. NOTE: Interested firms shall be located within 150 miles of the VA Medical Center Reno, NV facility. The NACIS code for this procurement is 541310.
