- On October 16, 2008, the U.S. Army announced the termination of the Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH) contract with Bell Helicopter. On November 07, 2008, the Army released a sources sought to determine the ability of existing or development helicopters to meet emerging requirements. Since the November 2008, sources sought, the Department of Defense has embarked upon an Analysis of Alternatives. The Armed Aerial Scout (AAS) program will provide a platform that conducts armed reconnaissance to fight for actionable combat information to enable joint/combined air-ground maneuver execution of mobile strike, close combat and vertical maneuver operations across the full-spectrum of military operations. Although the Army has not established formal requirements for this program, PM ARH is asking for information to better understand a full range of options for aircraft ranging in size from light armed reconnaissance to heavy attack with performance capability from Standard Sea Level to 6K/95. Specific information that should be included in your response is in Appendix A. It is requested that you provide your comments and input to the address below no later than 1:00 CST, 18 March 2010. Information may include hard copies of material along with CDs and DVDs as appropriate. There is no restriction on the types or quantities of material to be submitted. Personnel from PM ARH, TRADOC Capabilities Management Office, TRADOC Analysis Center, and U.S. Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity will review industry responses. U.S. Government support contractors from the following companies (Wyle Aerospace, Qinetiq Systems Engineering Group, and University of Alabama Huntsville) will assist in the review of any data provided by respondents to this request for information. A non-disclosure agreement has been signed by the above support contractors with the Government that precludes them from disclosing any data outside of the Government. Accordingly, respondents are requested to provide concurrence in their submissions that the data that is submitted may be reviewed by the above listed ARH Project Office support contractor employees. All information will be handled by PM ARH as For Official Use Only. This notice is not a request for proposals. The government will not award a contract on the basis of this notice, or otherwise pay for information solicited by it. Proprietary information should be clearly marked. The requested information is for planning and market research purposes only and will not be publicly released, except as incorporated into a request for proposals.
