- Description
- Flight Software Development for the Neutral Mass Spectrometer (NMS) for the LunarAtmosphere and Dust Experiment Explorer (LADEE) Mission and the Neutral Gas and Ion MassSpectrometer (NGIMS) for the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN)NASA intends to award a sole-source contract to the Nolan Engineering pursuant to 10U.S.C 2304(c)(1), Only One Responsible Source, in support of Goddard Space FlightCenters (GSFC) Neutral Mass Spectrometer (NMS) instrument for the Lunar Atmosphere andDust Experiment Explorer (LADEE) Mission and the Neutral Gas and Ion Mass Spectrometer(NGIMS) instrument for the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) Mission. GSFCplans to award a Firm-Fixed Price contract with an estimated forty-four month period ofperformance, based on a planned launch date of October 2012 for the LADEE Mission and aplanned launch date of November 2013 for the MAVEN Mission. This award is necessary for Nolan Engineering to support the Flight Software developmentfor the LADEE NMS instrument and the MAVEN NGIMS instrument. Nolan Engineering has theunique experience and expertise to properly design, develop, test, assemble, qualify anddeliver the Flight Software (FSW) Integration and Testing (I&T) Build and a FSW FinalBuild for both the LADEE NMS instrument and the MAVEN NGIMS instrument. This uniqueexpertise is based on Nolan Engineerings extensive experience and technical Knowledgewith developing similar specialized software development for other missions, includingSample Analysis (SAM) and Mars Science Laboratory (MSL). With the highly constraineddevelopment schedules and the specialized nature of the software development, NolanEngineering is the only known source that can meet the LADEE NMS and LADEE MAVEN schedulerequirements. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualificationsto perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 12:00PM. local time on, the response due date.
