THE EMAIL ADDRESS IS: Edward.Hall@pa.usda.gov A brief Project Description: USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has a requirement for technical expertise to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Professional services, NAICS Code 541990 and Size $7.0 million with a Small Business Set-Aside, is needed to conduct a Phase II cultural resource survey of a specific conservation practice site on a farm located in Berks County, Oley Township, Pennsylvania (see location map). The Area of Potential Effect (APE) covers approximately 0.25 acres and includes archaeological site 36BK0905. The area is currently in corn production. Expected impacts of conservation practice implementation include excavation to construct an agricultural waste storage facility (approximately 80 feet in diameter and 8-10 feet deep) and associated appurtenances. The location of the waste storage facility is planned in the approximate center of the enclosed location map, just north of L. Manatawny Creek. The goal of the Phase II Survey is to determine if the prehistoric component of the site qualifies for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and to provide recommendations for the government to evaluate. The Principal Investigator must meet the minimum professional qualifications listed in the “Archaeology and Historic Preservation: Secretary of Interior’s Standards and Guidelines” for Archaeology as specified in Section 112(a)(1)(A) of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and in the implementing regulations for Section 106 of the NHPA at 800.2(a)(1) and 800.2(a)(3). The Project Archaeologist should have the ability, through application of professional knowledge and experience, to interpret the local history and prehistory of the project area. This project is located on a Farm in Berks County, PA The government anticipates release of the Soliciatation within 40 days of this Sources Sought. More complete details/Description please email.
