- Description
- This work will be performed in the Mississippi River at Mile 899 on the left descending bank in the Northwest Tennessee Harbor just north of Tiptonville, TN. The work consists of subaqueous removal of material within the harbor footprint and the subsequent placement of the reclaimed material at a designated location along the main channel of the Mississippi River. The material will consist of revetment remnants (approximately 6 inches thick) and surrounding sediments. The removal area is approximately 1300 feet long, extends up to 41 feet below the water surface when the New Madrid gage is a 28, and conforms to the designed slope and grade provided on the plans. The estimated quantity of material to be removed is 21,000 cubic yards. Work shall be accomplished by floating plant using a hydraulic excavator with digging depth of 50 feet and a minimum 5 cubic yard bucket. All material shall be loaded onto a barge, transported to the designated site, and placed as reinforcement for an existing trail dike. All work shall be performed as soon as the New Madrid gage is 28 feet or less. The contractor shall perform and provide hydrographic surveys as necessary to insure proper grade and section in the removal area. The contractor shall mobilize within 10 days and complete all work within 30 days from notice to proceed subject to the 28 foot river stage limitation on the New Madrid Gage.
