Description
NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Heavy-Ion Single Event Effect (SEE) testing ofmicroelectronics, photonics, and materials. NASA intends to utilize a heavy-ionirradiation facility for radiation effects research for space flight applications.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Texas A&M University Cyclotron Facility(TAMU). The TAMU facility meets several specific requirements that will allow accuratetesting to be performed.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to Janicea McCree at Janicea.L.McCree@nasa.gov or via facsimile at301-286-9159 not later than 4:30 p.m. eastern time on February 1, 2009. Suchcapabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determiningwhether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination bythe Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis,based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
