THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CONTRACTOR, WATERMARK ENVIRONMENTAL, INC. 175 CABOT ST. SUITE 503, LOWELL, MA. UNDER STATUE THAT EXPRESSLY AUTHORIZES OR REQUIRES THAT THE ACQUISTION BE MADE FROM A SPECIFIC SOURCE, SPECIFICALLY, FAR 19.811-1, A SOLE SOURCE AWARD UNDER SECTION 8(a) OF THE SMALL BUSINESS ACT AND FAR PART 19.8 Description of the work being requested; The New England District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to refurbish the Woonsocket Falls Dam in Woonsocket, RI. Woonsocket Falls Dam is a concrete structure across the Blackstone River with four 50-foot spillway weirs, four10.1-foot high steel tainter gates, and three, 8-foot wide intermediate piers between the weir sections. Each tainter gate is 50-0 wide with a 32-0 wide overflow section in the center (El. 148.1), and a 9-0 wide overflow section at both ends. A concrete slab, steel girder service bridge, spanning between piers, provides truck access from the west abutment. A steel catwalk beneath the service bridge provides access to gate hoisting equipment and gate controls. A generator building on the west abutment houses electrical controls, river gage, standby generator, and other equipment. The work consists of replacing the 1-inch diameter, stranded steel hoist cables on each of the four tainter gates, and cleaning and painting of all steel surfaces. Each gate has double cables on each side of tainter gate (4 lengths of cable per gate). Steel surfaces to be cleaned and painted shall include, but not be limited to, gate struts, tensioners and skin plates; bridge stringers, beams and railings; catwalk supports, platforms and railings; and mechanical equipment covers. The estimated dollar value of this procurement will range between $1-5 million.The assigned NAICS code is 237990, with a size standard of $33.5 million. This solicitation will be issued as a sole source award for 8(a) contractor Watermark. The anticipated issue date is on or about March 1, 2010.
