Description
The Space and Naval Warfare SystemsCenter (SPAWARSYSCEN), Atlantic is seeking information on and demonstrations of commercial off-the- shelf (COTS) airborne direction finding antenna systems. Concept is a system that shall passively determine a line of bearing (LOB) to a radio frequency (RF) energy source in the 110 MHz to 1200 MHz at a minimum, but ideally would be capable of operating from 20 to 3000 MHz. The antenna should also provide an OMNI feed from 20 to 3000 MHz range. Physical limitations of energy sensing device is that its weight is approximately 12.0 lbs. Its size is not to exceed 11 inches in diameter. The antenna must fit in an existing 11 circular opening using existing mounting fixtures and cabling. The antenna head should mount nearly flush with the skin of the fuselage. The aircraft is made of a composite containing a wire mesh that will be used as the ground plane. The processing portion of the equipment must support the following: be able to be treated as carry/carry off, be able to operate in non pressurized spaces at altitudes up to 25,000 ft, be compliant with MIL-STD-810G for operation with prop driven aircraft. The antenna must be mountable on the exterior of the air platform and have minimal adverse effect on air worthiness. Supplier shall be able to demonstrate system operational capability within an accuracy of sub 10 degree range (RMS) of the true relative bearing of the test signals. The system should be able to provide a LOB of less than 2.5 seconds duration from any direction. Please provide any information relating to other air platforms on which this capability is currently fielded. SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic is only interested in information on devices that are currently available on airborne platforms or easily adaptable to the airborne environment. Responses to this RFI should be emailed to Tony Morga (antonio.morga@navy.mil, phone:843-218-4733) or mailed to SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic, ATTN: 56330AM (Tony Morga), P.O. Box 190022, N. Charleston, SC 29419-9022 with a copy e-mailed to the Contracting Officer, Deborah McNeely at deborah.mcneely@navy.mil.
