- Description
- The Project Manager, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (PM UAS) seeks your comments and suggestions pertaining to an Analysis of Alternatives to help define a programmatic approach to closing gaps defined by the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC). On September 27, 2009, the Army approved a Material Development Decision (MDD) and authorization to begin an Analysis of Alternatives which will look at manned, unmanned, and Manned/Unmanned (MUM) teaming solutions to meet the required capability. The Armed Aerial Scout Program Office and the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Project Management Office will provide a manned, unmanned or manned/unmanned platform solution that conducts armed reconnaissance, attack, and security missions to enable joint/combined air-ground maneuver of mobile strike, close combat and vertical maneuver operations across the full spectrum of military operations. PM-UAS seeks your comments and suggestions on how to accomplish the specific tactical capability requirements using either or both of two systems concepts: 1. In one concept, the entire set of tactical capabilities is performed using solely unmanned platforms. This concept may utilize single vehicle architectures similar to those currently used by the Army or it could be approached with multiple, collaborative intelligent air vehicles if the appropriate considerations of airspace integration, interoperability, frequency management and unit integration are made. 2. In the second concept, Manned-Unmanned (MUM) teaming is the fundamental operating mode, and the tactical capabilities are achieved by teaming either existing manned rotary winged assets, or new manned assets and unmanned assets as best suited to achieving the tactical capabilities in the specified organizational and operational environment. More detailed information regarding this Request for Information is provided in the attached document. The requested information is required by March 10, 2010. Due to time constraints, it is not possible to extend this response date. NOTE: This notice is not a Request for Proposals.
