Description
The Corpus Christi Army Depot is seeking sources for a High-Speed, High Power Electric Motor and Drive System. Interested sources must submit an email to peggy.echols@us.army.mil. Email must include company name, address, phone number, fax number, CAGE Code, DUNS number, Tax ID and company size. The government is trying to identify suppliers for an electrical motor with the following characteristics: "2100/2300/2500 HP "Operation between 15,000- 22,000 rpm "Producing between 100-500 ftlb of torque. "Operation will be step type loading at different torques and speeds for periods of 20-45 minutes to support depot repair validation of gearboxes. "Testing will be performed continuously for periods up to two hours. "The daily operating time will be eight hours within a 16 hour period, five days per week. "The motor will be connected through a gearbox to a load application system. "The motor will never be operated for short periods above the 100% power level listed above. "Motor winding class should be type H. "A high efficiency motor is desirable. "Available input voltage will range from 480-4160VAC. "The motor will always be operated with the shaft in a horizontal position. "The motor should be foot mounted. "There will be an overhung load of 15 lbs. "The motor will be mounted on a test stand and will be operated in an air conditioned environment within a repair depot environment at the following conditions 50-100F, 35% relative humidity max, 100 ft above sea level. "The maximum vibration allowed should be 0.10 in/second. "The motor should be configured with an optical encoder having a minimum resolution of 5000 pulses per revolution. "The motor should be configured with sensors to monitor winding temperature, bearing temperature and vibration sensors. "The motor operating noise should be 80dBA or lower. "For this application a low inertia rotor is desirable. "It is desirable that the motor be liquid cooled and that a free standing Freon based cooling system be provided by the motor manufacturer. Acceptable Freon types would be (unknown at this time). A variable frequency drive that will operate in conjunction with the above motor and allow for: "Operation to 22,000 rpm. "The drive will operate the motor in the motoring only mode and will operate in a speed control mode only. "It is desirable that the carrier frequency be as high as possible. "It is highly desirable that rectifiers, whether they be IGBTs, GTOs or SCRs be liquid cooled and that a free standing Freon based cooling system be provided by the drive manufacturer. Acceptable Freon types would be [unknown at this time]. "The drive should contain an algorithm that provides real time motor torque. The algorithm must incorporate winding temperatures as a variable. The accuracy of the projected motor torque should be +/-0.1% of the reading. "The drive will never be operated for short periods above the 100% power level listed above. "The drive will be mounted in an air conditioned environment with the environment maintained between the following conditions: 50-100 F, 35% RH max, 100 ft above sea level. Storage temperature would be 0-115 F. "The drive must provide electromagnetic immunity in compliance with IEC 801 and EN 50081-2. "Available input voltage will range from 480-4160VAC. The drive must be able to accept incoming AC supply voltage fluctuations of +/-10% with an input displacement power factor of 0.93. "The drive should provide protection for undervoltage, overvoltage, power ride through, and restart into a rotating load. "The drive should be configured with a full complement of drive and motor diagnostics. "The drive should have a high speed communication interface, that utilizes a standardized, non-proprietary protocol, such as Profibus or Ethernet. "The drive should contain an external display with push buttons. "The enclosure should be a NEMA 4 rating and should must be configured with a fusible disconnect. Manufacturers capable of providing such a motor should provide information on the torque speed characteristics, operational efficiency, rotor support system, torsional rigidity of the shaft, bearing types, winding type, noise level, cooling type, cooling flow and temperature monitoring. Information should be provided on the variable frequency drive to include rectifier type, output frequency, frequency accuracy carrier frequency, torque rise time, line filters, EMC protection, control mode, maximum frequency, torque algorithm, power factor, harmonic distortion, drive protection, communication protocol, self monitoring system, speed sensor type,
