Solicitation - VA-259-10-RP-0094 Department of Veterans Affairs - VA Montana Healthcare SystemPosted: February 16, 2010 Due: March 17, 2010 POC: Contracting Officer Jeanne Plummer (406) 447-7886 The VA Montana Healthcare System has a requirement for the use of an eye surgery facility, surgery support staff (LPN, RN, etc) and limited ophthalmologic (emergent) care in Missoula, Montana. The VA ophthalmologist will perform cataract repairs at the contracted facility, but will need the contractor to provide additional assistance. The VA ophthalmologist may be performing the following procedures at the contracted facility: 1.Provisions for surgical cataract removal and, post op YAG laser capsulotomy and intraocular lens replacement. 2.Provisions for preoperative assessment with including A-scans, topography, lens calculations, etc to size new lens. 3.Provisions for emergent care during the post operative period. 4.Provisions for emergent surgical treatment and care by referral from the local VA Missoula CBOC ophthalmologist for any emergency diagnosis that has been determined to need immediate treatment without delay. Contracted facility requirements: The contractor is required to provide surgical block times on a regular schedule and a dedicated surgical suite with equipment and supplies to assist in performing cataract repairs. The weekly block time initially will be a day per week to allow for three to five cases per surgery day. The yearly estimate is 260 cases per year. Contracted staff requirements: The contractor's staff is required to assist in the delivery of pre op, intra op and immediate post op care and will be required to perform the compensation exam as part of the preoperative assessment to measure for replacement lens provision of A-scans, topography, and lens calculation on site. The contractor's physician will need to be available to provide immediate care for post operative complications. The contractor is required to assist in a clinical preceptorship for the VA ophthalmologist to confirm competency of the VA ophthalmologist delivering surgical care. The North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) is 621111 and the small business size standard is $10.0 million.
