Description
Scope of Work SF 1442 Refinish Doors/Rails/Storefront 01 GENERAL Work shall be performed at the Sidney Christie Federal Courthouse, 845 Fifth Avenue, Huntington WV 25701. The Contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform all work required to strip, sand, and refinish all stair railing, chair railing, door jambs, doors, and benches listed in the ensuing paragraphs. In addition, 2ea. doors will be required to be replaced and finish trim will be added to a storefront section. The aluminum glass storefront assembly will be totally enclosed with wood trim. The Contractor shall submit a drawing of this finished opening with raised panel door and trim profiles prior to beginning work. The Contractor shall submit a plan to the COR detailing the method to be used in reaching the stair railings prior to beginning work. The contractor is responsible for verifying all measurements and quantities. In all listed areas, items shall be stripped, sanded, stained and sealed to match existing window jambs. Stripping of existing finish to bare wood shall be accomplished using a low VOC non toxic product such as "Back to Nature" or approved equivalent. Work on all rails and jambs must be performed with the items attached in place. Doors may be removed for treatment. If a door is removed for treatment a temporary door must be installed in its place. At the discretion of the CO doors may taken to the Federal Courthouse basement to perform this process. The option to take the doors off site will also be allowed if a plan suitable to the CO is submitted by the Contractor. If taken to the Federal Building basement the Contractor is responsible for ventilating the basement area while work is in progress, The Contractor must provide mock­up boards or sample areas illustrating the finish stain color prior to beginning the project. The stain color will approved by the CO in accordance with the submittal. The Contractor shall be responsible for disassembling and reassembling all door hardware as needed to perform this project. The Contractor shall be responsible for protecting all walls and repainting damaged areas as deemed necessary by the CO. The Contractor shall have performed similar work available for GSA inspection. The Contractor shall include the address and contact name with phone number of this project or projects with their submitted bid. A pre-bid meeting will be held on March 4, 2010 at 9:30 am located at the Sidney Christie Federal Courthouse. Bid opening will be held on March 24, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Robert C. Strip Refinish Fifth St. Middle, Jamb Only Strip Refinish 03 MATERIALS Materials shall be commercially available products of reputable manufacturers and approved by the CO prior to starting work. 04 WORKMANSHIP In performing all work included in this project, an exhaust fan with temporary dueling to the outside will be employed where possible. All adjacent areas shall be fully protected to include walls, floors, and carpet. All necessary furniture moving shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. The Contractor shall submit an exhaust air plan to the COR prior to start of this project. All work shall be coordinated and scheduled with the COR and the CO has the right to reject any unsatisfactory or unsuitable material or workmanship. Any damage caused by the Contractor to the building, any of its contents or tenants shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to correct in a timely manner. The Contractor shall expect to perform all work on this project after normal business hours unless otherwise directed by the COR. The COR retains the right to have all work performed during normal working hours. The Contractor shall remove all debris generated in the performance of this contract on a daily basis. 05 STORAGE OF MATERIALS The Contractor will be provided an area in the basement to stage their work. This area must be kept clean and organized to the extent deemed necessary by the COR. 06 PROTECTION The Contractor shall provide any materials, barriers and safety equipment necessary for the protection of pedestrians and property during the implementation of this contract. 07 SAFETY AND HEALTH All work shall comply with applicable state and municipal safety and health requirements. Where there is a conflict between applicable regulations, the most stringent will apply. The Contractor shall assume full responsibility and liability for compliance with all applicable regulations pertaining to the health and safety of personnel during the execution of work, and shall hold the Government harmless for any action of its part and of that of its employees or subcontractors, which results in illness or death. The Contractor shall provide all necessary safety equipment and ensure that such equipment and all relevant safety procedures are adequate for the job being performed and are utilized properly. PRE-BID MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, MARCH 4, 2010 AT 9:30 A.M. ALL BIDS WILL BE DUE BACK NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2010 AT 2:00 P.M.
