Description
RECOVERY SIMLAB PARTICIPANT CONTRACT NNA05BF53B. THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FORINFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO FLIGHT RESEARCHASSOCIATES UNDER CONTRACT NNA05BF53B FOR SIMLAB PARTICIPANTAT NASA AMES RESEARCH CENTER(ARC), MOFFETT FIELD, CA, AUTHORIZED UNDER THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENTACT OF2009. ARC intends to issue Task Order NNA10DA43T, titled: Subject Matter Experts toSupport Surface Human-in-the-Loop Simulations for Evaluation of Airportal SurfaceScheduling Algorithms.Research funded by this task will focus on addressing the capacity challenges facing theUS national airspace. It is forecast that over the next 15 years, air traffic in theUnited States will double, far exceeding the countrys current capability to safely flyaircraft. To handle this growth, NASA is contributing toward the development of the NextGeneration Air Transportation Management System (NextGen). Research is being conductedto investigate new approaches to safely increase the number of aircraft that can operatein the national airspace at any given time. More specifically, a real-time airportsurface simulation capability and initial surface operations experiments withnewly-developed surface scheduling algorithms are planned, and require the participationof aviation subject matter experts to serve as air traffic controller and pilot subjectsduring simulations. This task will provide the pilot and controller subjects to conductsimulations that will help investigate newly-developed surface scheduling algorithms. A contract modification will be issued to add American Recovery andReinvestmentActReporting Requirements to the contract and fully fund Task Order NNA10DA43T. TheSimLab Participant contract NNA05BF53B was made on a competitive basis. Oralcommunications are not acceptable in response to this notice. This announcement will notresult in a Request for Proposal; this announcement is for informational purposes only. All questions and/or concerns must be submitted to the point of contact contained hereinin writing via e-mail to the following address:Jeannette.albiez@nasa.gov.
