Description
Mineral Oil RFP The NOvA experiment is a high energy physics (HEP) experiment that has a large volume of liquid scintillator as its active detector medium contained within PVC extrusions. The liquid scintillator will be contained in a 30,000 gallon NOvA Near Detector at Fermilab, and a Option (may be Exercised by October 01, 2010) will be for 3,000,000 gallons of Mineral Oil for the Far Detector at Ash River, MN. Also, there will be a second Option for 215,000 gallons of Mineral Oil that may be Exercised at a later date. The liquid scintillator is composed of a primary scintillant and two (2) waveshifters mixed with Mineral Oil solvent. This RFP is for the procurement of Mineral Oil used in the liquid scintillator for the Near Detector and the Option(s). The requirements for the Mineral Oil are in accordance with the "Technical Specifications for the NOvA Mineral Oil" (dated February 17, 2010). Attached is the RFP including the Technical Specification. If your firm has the capability, resources and qualifications to produce this type of Mineral Oil, please contact Robert F. Cibic at bcibic@fnal.gov for the complete RFP. Note: The Due Date for this RFP is Tuesday, March 23, 2010.
